Khasi Hills Archery Sports Institute also known as KHASI in short is a registered institute which has been registered with the Registrar of Societies, Shillong, Meghalaya.

Ever since 29.04.1983, the Khasi Hills Archery Sports Institute has been issued the Licensed Permit to organize the game of arrow shooting in Shillong, particularly in the venue located in 4 Furlong, POLO

Hence, the Khasi Hills Archery Sports Institute can be called as the prime registered father body which organizes as well as managed the arrow shooting game in the state.

Yes, the Khasi Hills Archery Sports Institute is a registered organization registered under the Registrar of Societies, to carry out the arrow shooting sport as well as declare results which are then listed throughout the city at various centers commonly called the Kiosks.

What Is The Purpose Of Khasi Hills Archery Sports Institute?

KHASI basically works together with other sister organizations and bodies to organize the game of Teer, as well as look after the welfare of the various licensed bookies (kiosk counters) in and around Meghalaya.

The game of Teer as well as everything associated with it such as lottery, prize money distribution, game’s results, etc, all come under the Meghalaya Amusements and Betting Tax (Amendment) Rules, 1982 Act. 

The above Act governs how the whole process of Shillong Teer is carried out and the various bodies and organizations associated with it work under the ambit of the following Act. 

Are There Other Similar Organizations Or Bodies Like The Khasi Hills Archery Sports Institute?

Under the Khasi Hills Archery Sports Institute, there are primarily three major organizations or bodies, which work together to smoothly run all the operations associated with the game as well as look after the various bookies licensed all over the State. 

These organizations are as follows:

  • Meghalaya Thoh Team Welfare Association (MATTWA)
  • Khasi Hills Bookies Welfare Association (KHBWA)
  • Meghalaya Book Maker’s Welfare Union (MBMWU)

They work together and under The Khasi Hills Archery Sports Institute to mainly organize the game of archery.

According to the Rule 42(2) of the  Meghalaya Amusements and Betting Tax (Amendment) Rules, 1982 and Condition No. 6 of the License Permit issued to KHASI, the total number of shooters who can play the game should not be less than 30 or more than 50.

Hence, the number of permitted archers are usually divided equally among the mentioned three organizations who place their own archers to take part in the game.
